Warhawks Fall to #22 Wartburg

Box Score The UW-Whitewater women's soccer team fell to twenty-second ranked Wartburg College 4-1 on the road Sunday afternoon snapping a six game win streak.

The first goal of the contest came just 1:41 into the match with Cathy Reiter beating the defender for an open net goal, her seventh of the season. 

UW-W's Christina Tooren (Hoffman Estates, IL/Hoffman Estates) would even the score on a last chance shot that found the back of the net just before the half registering her seventh goal of the season at 44:48.

The Knights shot out of the gate in the second half scoring two goals in less than three minutes time. The first was a replay of the first goal of the match with Reiter notching her eighth of the season off an assist from Kaylee Benning at 51:13. Wartburg tacked on another goal off the foot of Brinkly Werkman, her first of the season at 54:38.

Wartburg's Kaylee Benning put the game out of reach with the final goal at 76:02, her eighth for the season.

The Warhawks posted ten shots in the game, four off the foot of Tooren with one finding the back of the net compared to 27 total shots for the Knights. Wartburg also held the advantage in corner kicks with nine in the contest to just two for UW-W. Whitewater's Jordan Myers (Aurora, IL/Waubonsie Valley) thwarted nine Knight shots in the game but falls to 7-4 this season. Knight goalie Monica Noti improves to 7-1-2 with the win.

UW-W will travel to Platteville for a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup Wednesday, October 3 with the kick-off scheduled for 7:00.
