Box Score 3 The Warhawk volleyball team wrapped up their final home invite of the season with a loss to Edgewood College 3-1 (22-25, 26-24, 25-21, 25-23). UW-Whitewater swept two opponents in invitational competition Friday starting with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-22) win over UW-River Falls. The Warhawks capped the night with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-13) sweep of Illinois Wesleyan.

Edgewood Recap
Edgewood held the advantage in every team stat category except blocks where Whitewater posted 8.5 compared to 6 total for the Eagles. EW posted 57 kills in the contest led by Mallory Palmer's 20. Defensively, the Eagles kept the Warhawks from gaining momentum offensively with 97 digs.
Two Warhawks hit in double figures in the match.
Leanna Lillge (Ixonia/Watertown) notched 16 kills and added 10 digs and three assist blocks. Teammate
Caroline Langer (Menomonee Falls/Milwaukee Pius XI) added 12 kills. Defensively, three UW-W players posted double figure digs led by
Kelsey Nobilio (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg)'s match high 32.
Kim Frei (West Bend/West Bend West) recorded 12 to add to 47 assists in the contest.
UW-W will host UW-Oshkosh Wednesday, October 24 at 7:00 pm in Kris Russell Volleyball Arena in Williams Center.
Illinois Wesleyan Recap
Whitewater made it a perfect night with a 3-0 sweep of IWU after the 3-0 rout of UW-RF. The 2002 national championship volleyball team was recognized during the match.
The Warhawks more than doubled their opponent's attack output with 43 kills compared to 16 for the Titan offense. UW-Whitewater hit .260 and held Illinois Wesleyan to a -.010 attack percentage in the match. UW-W posted four more service aces, two more total blocks and 29 more digs than IWU in the contest.
Leanna Lillge (Ixonia/Watertown) posted a match high 13 kills and made it a double-double with 10 digs.
Kristen Ruchti (Brodhead/Brodhead) hammered down 10 kills in 18 attempts while adding a solo and six assist blocks on the defensive side of the ball.
Ariel Johnston (Rockford, IL/Guilford) hit a blistering .667 with seven kills in nine attempts.
Kim Frei (West Bend/West Bend West) took on the setting duties with 38 assists and added two service aces. Libero

UW-RF Recap
UW-W's overall performance led to a 3-0 win over UW-River Falls Friday evening. The Warhawks hit .283 with 38 kills and 12 errors while holding the Falcons to a .095 hitting percentage with 31 kills and 21 errors. From the service line the Warhawks posted seven aces while committing no errors on the receiving end. Defensively, UW-W recorded 11 total blocks compared to just three for UW-RF.
Leanna Lillge (Ixonia/Watertown) and
Kristen Ruchti (Brodhead/Brodhead) shared team high honors with nine kills. Ruchti added two solo blocks and six assist blocks.
Kim Frei (West Bend/West Bend West) dished out 32 assists in the match and added two service errors and four assist blocks. Libero

UW-W will continue play in the invitational with a night cap against Illinois Wesleyan University at 7:00 in Kris Russell Volleyball Arena in Williams Center. The 2002 volleyball national championship team will be recognized in between sets two and three of the match.
