Whitewater trailed just once in the game, at 15-14 with 9:44 left in the first half. The Warhawks regained the lead quickly, increasing the margin to nine (31-22) before leaving the floor for halftime with a 35-28 lead in the second half.
UW-W was led by forward
Luke Knoble (Boscobel/Boscobel), 11, and guard
Eric Bryson (Elkhorn/Elkhorn), 10, in scoring over the first twenty minutes. Knoble hit 4-6 shots, and Bryson 4-5 as the Warhawks shot 50% in the half. Sophomore forward Alex Oman scored 11 to lead the Blue Devils, who shot 48% in the half.
It was a different story as the basket vanished for UW-S, as they went 3-18 from the field, and 1-7 from three point range, in the second half. UW-W held a double digit lead the last eight minutes of the game, with the margin eventually reaching 17 at 56-39 with 4:04 remaining.
UW-W senior forward
Alex Edmunds (Cedarburg/) led both teams with 24 points, hitting 8-12 from the field and making 8-8 free throws. Bryson finished with 13 points, and Knoble 12 plus a game high nine rebounds. Edmunds was tops in the game with five steals, with freshman guard
Quardell Young (Kenosha/Bradford) chipping in with four. Oman led UW-S with 14 points. Guard Erik Olson passed for four assists, and junior forward Thomas Scholle-Malone led Stout with five rebounds.
UW-W is 17-1 overall and 8-1 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. UW-Stout is 6-12 overall and 1-8 in league action.
Whitewater will host UW-Stevens Point Wednesday at 7:00 in Kachel Gym of Williams Center.
