The UW-Whitewater men's soccer team fell to Whitworth University 2-0 Sunday in Whitewater to fall to 0-2-0 this season. Whitworth, playing their third game in three days, improved to 2-0-1.

Whitworth's freshman forward Robby Ubben notched both goals for the visitors. The first goal came in the sixteenth minute and the second in the forty-ninth minute. The goals were his second and third of the season.
UW-W outshot the Pirates 9-8 including 5-2 in the second half.
Jonathon Fischer (Hartland/Arrowhead) fired a shot in the sixty-sixth minute trying to tighten the game, but the Pirates' goalkeeper was able to make the save.
John Gottwald (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) got a shot off three minutes later, but it sailed wide left and the Warhawks were still unable to get on the scoreboard.
The Warhawks continued to put pressure on getting shots on goal in the seventy-first and seventy-fourth minutes but the Pirate defense remained solid and held the shutout intact.
UW-W will be back on the pitch on September 7 when they host Loras College as part of a doubleheader with the women's team. The women's game begins at 5:30 pm and the men's will begin at 7:30 pm. The night will also be used as a welcome back celebration for students and as faculty and staff recognition night.
