UW-Whitewater earned its first victory in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Wednesday with a 2-0 shutout of UW-Platteville at Fiskum Field in Whitewater. UW-W (4-3-1, 1-0-1 WIAC) has not allowed a goal to a WIAC opponent yet this season. Platteville, playing in their first WIAC match of 2011, falls to 4-4-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the WIAC.

Laren Nashleanas (Brookfield/East) put UW-W on the board in the twelfth minute, scoring off of a pass from
Riley Kirchoff (Pewaukee/Pewaukee). The goal by Nashleanas, the team's second leading scorer, was her fourth of the season.
Two shots by
Emily Gerber (DeForest/DeForest) provided the highlights in the remainder of the first half. The first was saved by the Pioneer goalkeeper, and the second sailed wide.
Christan Tooren made an immediate impact, returning to the line-up for the first time this season after an injury held her out, and scored a goal in the 52nd minute. Tooren was the Warhawks' leading scorer in 2010 with 16 goals, tied for the third most in school history. Tooren was assisted by
Alyssa Chamberlain (De Pere/De Pere).
Jordan Myers (Aurora, IL/Waubonsie Valley) posted her second shutout of the season, stopping two Platteville shots, both in the second half.
The Warhawks will travel to Menomonie, Wisconsin September 24 for a WIAC match against UW-Stout beginning at 4:00 pm.
