The Warhawk volleyball team, ranked twenty-second in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, is set to host its second invitational of the 2011 season Friday-Saturday, September 16-17. Teams include Rockford College, St. Olaf College, #17 UW-Platteville and #22 UW-W. This page will be updated periodically throughout the invitational with scores and other pertinent information. All games will be played in the Kris Russell Volleyball Arena in Williams Center.

Rockford Recap
The Warhawks hit over .400 in each of the first two sets pounding down 19 kills in each to take a quick 2-0 lead over Rockford College. A win in the final set gave UW-W the 3-0 win (25-22, 25-17, 25-18) and its second win of the UW-Whitewater Invitational.
Senior
Sofia Sanchez (Janesville/Craig) led the Warhawks at the net for the fourth straight match posting 14 kills. Teammate
Ariel Johnston (Rockford, IL/Guilford) joined Sanchez in double figures with 11 and added five total blocks, one solo and four assisted.
Ariel Feiertag (Brown Deer/Brown Deer) made her presence known at the net with two solo blocks and three assist blocks in the match.
Defensively,
Kelli Trautmann (Seymour/Little Chute) dug up 16 Rockford attack attempts and
Kim Frei (West Bend/West Bend West) added 10 more. UW-W recorded 10.5 total blocks in the match, four solo and 13 assisted to Rockford's one solo block.
The Warhawks are now 8-3 on the season.
Whitewater's next match is set for Wednesday, September 21 at 7:00 in Stevens Point, WI for the conference debut.
St. Olaf Recap
The Warhawks fed off the energy brought into the gym by the welcoming back of teammate
Lisa Panici (Peotone, IL/Peotone) and her family to Whitewater to top St. Olaf 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-21) Friday night.
UW-W produced an offensive onslaught in the match posting 17 kills in each of the first two sets and recording 12 more in the final set. The Warhawk defense held the St. Olaf hitters to just 29 kills total including a .000 hitting percentage in second set and -.029 in the final set.
Senior
Sofia Sanchez (Janesville/Craig) led the charge at the net with 14 kills, a match high. Freshman
Alivia Holman (South Beloit, IL/Rockton Hononegah) was the only other player to hit double digits in kills with 10. Three Warhawk defenders recorded double figure digs including senior
Alyssa Bauer (Naperville, IL/Central) with 15, senior
Kelli Trautmann (Seymour/Little Chute) posted 12 and sophomore
Heidi Buss (Cedarburg/Cedarburg) added 10. Buss also did the majority of the setting for UW-W dishing out 36 assists in the match.
The Warhawks will continue play in the UW-Whitewater Invitational Saturday, September 17 at noon against Rockford College in Kris Russell Volleyball Arena in Williams Center.
