The UW-Whitewater women's volleyball team, ranked twenty-second in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, went on the road to defeat Ripon College 3-1 (25-20, 25-15, 23-25, 25-10) Wednesday night.

Whitewater's offensive onslaught posted double figure kills each set in the match while the Warhawk defense kept Ripon in the single digits for the entirety of the match. The Warhawks held the Red Hawk hitters to just .033 hitting, forcing 24 errors and allowing only 29 kills in the match. UW-W pounded down 61 kills and recorded a season high 14 total blocks.
Sofia Sanchez (Janesville/Craig) and
Leanna Lillge (Ixonia/Watertown) led all players at the net on offense with 15 and 12 kills respectively. Defensively,
Ariel Johnston (Rockford, IL/Guilford) had six total blocks (one solo, five assisted) which ties Ariel Freiertag's mark from September 9 against Ohio Northern for season high, and Lillge added five more (two solo, one assisted) in the match.
Four Warhawks posted double digits in digs including
Alyssa Bauer (Naperville, IL/Central) with 19, Sanchez with 18,
Kelli Trautmann (Seymour/Little Chute) with 16 and
Kelsey Nobilio (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) added 11. Setter
Heidi Buss (Cedarburg/Cedarburg) dished out 40 assists in the match.
Whitewater will host its second invitational of the season Friday and Saturday, September 16-17. UW-W will host St. Olaf Friday night at 7:00 in the Kris Russell Volleyball Arena. The match has been designated
