UW-La Crosse, ranked second in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III poll, defeated sixteenth ranked UW-Whitewater 24-9 Thursday night in Kachel Gym of Williams Center in Whitewater, Wisconsin.

The 125 match was scoreless for the first period. Schloegel put the first points on the board, an escape, then led 5-1 after two. The 133 match, where Sheley came in ranked third in the NWCA III ratings, was also scoreless in the first, but Sheley scored ten seconds into the second period and led 1-0 after two. Fredrickson tied it at 1-1 just twelve seconds into the final period, but Sheley got a takedown with 0:42 remaining for the winning points. Yewah, ranked number one at 141, led the entire way, including 8-2 at 1:15, and led 16-5 before pinning Lodsdon to give the Eagles a 9-3 lead. Schrupp got out in front 2-0 at 149 and extended it to 7-1 after the first period before Cizek cut the lead to 7-4 with 0:56 left. Lewis' takedown at 1:31 gave him a 2-0, and Schmidt tied it at 1:16. Lewis made it 4-2 after two, and increased his lead to 7-2 with a minute left. The match at 165 went through two scoreless periods. O'Brien managed an escape with 1:45 in the third, and Decker tied the match four seconds left, and O'Brien earned the victory with riding time. Schmitz, number two in the ratings, led 4-0 after the first, and 6-3 after the second. Dwyer scored two points to lead 2-0 after the first, and still led 3-1 after two. Miller narrowed it to 3-2 with 1:52 on the clock, and then took the lead 4-3 with 0:30 left. Dwyer tied it a 4-4 with 0:28 left to take the match into overtime, where he scored two points with nine seconds left. The 197 pounders didn't put a point on the board for the first two periods, but Pieshowski scored the first point and then two more to lead 3-0 with 1:41 left in the match. Anderson put up two points on the board in the first, and Mayer, ranked third in Division III by the NWCA, cut that in half with1:13 remaining in the first. Anderson upped his advantage to 5-1 with 1:18 left in the second, and the period ended with Anderson in front 5-2. It closed to 6-5 with 0:56 left but Anderson managed a takedown with seven seconds left to close out the win.
UW-W is 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Whitewater's next competition will be the grueling Comet Duals hosted by Olivet College in Olivet, Michigan Saturday. The Warhawks will wrestle five dual meets in one day, with Manchester College (IL) UW-W's opening round opponent. Matches for the rest of the day will be determined by results.
