The UW-Whitewater volleyball team, ranked fourteenth in the American Volleyball Coaches Association top 25 poll, upset eighth ranked University of St. Thomas 3-1 (25-18, 28-26, 11-25, 25-20) in the Wittenberg National Invitational hosted by Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio Saturday.

Coming back from a loss Saturday morning to eleventh ranked Wittenberg University, the Warhawks mounted an offensive attack and solid defense that proved too much for the Tommies.
The Warhawks recorded 50 kills in the four set match, including a 16 kill performance by
Katy Krajnak (Racine/Case), who added one solo and four assist blocks in the contest.
Caitlin Hogan (New London/New London) and
Sofia Sanchez (Janesville/Craig) joined Krajnak in double figure kills with 12 and 11 respectively.
Christina DeGroot (Kewaskum/Kewaskum) moved into the UW-W record book with eight service aces, a mark that ties for sixth for service aces in a match.
Alyssa Bauer (Naperville, IL/Central) dug up 26 Tommie attack attempts for her thirtieth career 20+ dig performance. Backcourt teammate
Kelli Trautman (Seymour/Little Chute) added 13 more defensive digs in the match.
UW-W is scheduled to host Wisconsin Lutheran and Elmhurst College in a triangular Wednesday, September 8. Match times are set for 3:00 pm, 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm. The Warhawks will play Wisconsin Lutheran in the first match of the day and finish against Elmhurst in the 7:00 pm contest. All home matches are played in the volleyball arena in Williams Center on the UW-W campus.
