Women Kickers Top Stout

Led by two goals from Christina Tooren (Hoffman Estates, IL/Hoffman Estates) and a pair of assists from Emily Gerber (DeForest/DeForest), UW-Whitewater defeated UW-Stout 5-1 Saturday night at Bob Fiskum Field in Whitewater.  The five goals is high for the Warhawks this season, and the most by UW-W since a 7-0 win over Finlandia College October 9, 2009.

Stout got the jump on UW-W, with Grace Salwasser scoring just 7:40 into the game with an assist from McKenzie Hart.  Whitewater tied the game at 9:52 on Kelsey Finn (Glendale/Nicolet)'s second goal of the season, assisted by Tooren.  The Warhawks got the game winning goal from Pamela Lisowe (New Holstein/New Holstein) at 34:38, with Gerber getting her first assist of the night.  Whitewater took a 3-1 lead into intermission with Laren Nashleanas (Brookfield/East) scoring on a twisting corner kick.  

Whitewater scored twice in the second, Tooren at 57:39 from Kristy Talbert (Milwaukee/Whitefish Bay), and Tooren again, with Gerber, at 63:02 for the final tally of the night.  Tooren leads the Warhawks with six goals this season.

UW-W had ten corner kicks, Stout none.  UW-W goalkeeper Sam Neely (Oregon/Oregon) made four saves, as her teammates were getting off 23 shots to nine for the Blue Devils.

UW-Whitewater is 3-4 overall, 2-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.  Stout is 2-4, and 0-1 in league play.

UW-W will play at UW-Superior Saturday, September 25.  The next home game will be September 28 at 7:00 for UW-W Staff and Professor Recognition Night, with Concordia University (WI) visiting Fiskum Field.
