The UW-Whitewater men's track and field team finished third at the 2010 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship in River Falls on Saturday. The team was in fourth after Friday's events but used sixteen top eight finishes on Saturday to climb to the third spot.

First place finishes from
Pat Lockington (Two Rivers/Two Rivers),
Tom Fisher (Green Bay/East), and
Shaun Davis (Edgerton/Edgerton) led the way for UW-W on Saturday. Lockington won the decathlon with 6,351 total points, setting a season best and improving on a provisionally qualifying score he set earlier this season. Fisher won the high jump with a height of 2.05 meters (6-08.75) to tie
Luke Buchholz (Whitewater/Whitewater)'s season best mark and to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Division III outdoor track and field championship. Davis won the discus throw with a distance of 52.08 meters (170-10.00). That distance does automatically qualify him for the championships but Davis had previously automatically qualified back on April 17 with a distance of 54.08 meters.
Second place finishes from
Jeremie Bogard (Racine/Horlick) in the 800 meters (1:54.96) and
Luke Buchholz (Whitewater/Whitewater) in the high jump (2.00 meters/6-0) added 16 points to the team score, and third place finishes from
Brian Gensrick (Mequon/Homestead) in the 110 meter hurdles (15.16, season best),
Pete Schroeder (Ripon/Ripon) in the 400 meter hurdles (54.69),
Brakken Kraker (West Allis/West Allis Central) in the 1,500 meters (3:59.23), and the 4x400 meter relay team (3:19.19) added 24 more points.
Other UW-W athletes earning team points were:
Tim Prelletz (Crystal Lake, IL/Prairie Ridge), fifth place in the 400 meters (49.54);
Ben Stringer (Assumption, IL/Central A&M), fifth place in the discus (49.15 meters/161-03.00); #Mike Lewis, Jr.#, sixth place in the triple jump (14.12 meters/46-04.00, season best); seventh place in the 4x100 meter relay (43.59),
Dave Schneekloth (Seymour/Seymour), eighth place in the 5,000 meters (15:08.19, season best);
Carey Passer (Milton/Milton), eighth place in the 110 meter hurdles (15.77); and
Joseph Schneider (Wausau/Wausau West), eighth place in the shot put (15.05 meters/49-04.50).
The Warhawks finished third in the 2009 WIAC championship as well and has been in the top three since 2004.
