Warhawks Overwhelm Field

The Warhawk men's track and field team brought home a first place team finish at the 2010 Ted Haydon Invitational hosted by the University of Chicago.  The Warhawks scored 315 points leading the field of eleven teams, followed by University of Chicago scoring 229 and Beloit College scoring 43.

Leading the way for the Warhawks with first place finishes were Brian Martinezdelacortera in the 200m (23.16), Mike Rossbach (Dousman/Mukwonago) in the 400m (51.15), Jarrod Schwichtenberg (West Allis/West Allis Hale) in the 3000m (9:06.58), Dave Kuczynski (Brown Deer/Brown Deer) in the long jump (6.51m/21-04.25), and Tom Fisher (Green Bay/East) in the high jump (1.92m/6-03.50).  Tying for first in the pole vault were Chris Pendergast (Hartland/Hartland Arrowhead) and Pat Lockington (Two Rivers/Two Rivers) at a height of 4.10m/13-05.25.The Warhawks also swept the weight throws with Joe Schneider winning the shot put (14.79m/48-06.25), Shaun Davis (Edgerton/Edgerton) winning the discus (48.10m/157-10), and Ben Stringer (Assumption, IL/Central A&M) winning the hammer throw (58.98m/173-10).  Pete Schroeder also earned first place in the 400m hurdles (55.08) and took fifth in the 110m hurdles (16.67)

Shaun Davis (Edgerton/Edgerton)' throw in the discus and Ben Stringer (Assumption, IL/Central A&M)'s hammer throw met the provisional qualifying standard for the NCAA national meet.

Also earning points for the Warhawks Dean Bartel (Wind Lake/Muskego) (11.46) and C.J. Miller (Verona/Verona Area) (11.56) finishing fourth and fifth respectively in the 100, and Joe Bailey (Hartford/Hartford Union) (23.20) and Tim Prelletz (Crystal Lake, IL/Prairie Ridge) (23.26) finishing second and third in the 200.

Brakken Kraker (West Allis/West Allis Central) (4.01.38) and Mathias Werve (Kenosha/Tremper) (4:01.82) both added point with their third and fourth place finishes in the 1500.  Carey Passer (Milton/Milton) (59.55) finished fifth in the 400 hurdles and Jon Fink chalked up a fourth place finish in the 3000 (9:12.50).

The Warhawks' 5000 runners, David Schneekloth (15:30.21), Dan Machmueller (West Allis/West Allis Hale) (15:31.42), and Ben Knapp (Stoughton/Stoughton) (15:35.63), flew together to second, third, and fourth place finishes.

The weight throwers swept the top four position in the shot put and discus, and top five in the hammer throw:

R.J. Soderman (Muskego/Muskego) contributed points in the javelin with a third place finish (157-6).  Corey Lockridge finished second in the long jump (20-3.75) and Ronzale Traylor (42-7.5) and Antwan Anderson (Madison Memorial/Memorial) 42-5.5) finished third and fourth respectively in the triple jump.  Whitewater also had two relay teams finish second and third in the 4x400m relay (3:31.24, 3:32.0).

The Warhawks' next meet is the Rex Foster Open Thursday April, 8 at Foster Track and Field in Whitewater, starting at 4:00 pm.
