Kehoe Leads Whitewater In Jeff Miller Drake Alternative Meet

Aron Kehoe (Monroe/Monroe) won the 1500 meters to lead UW-Whitewater to first place in the twelve team field of the Jeff Miller Drake Alternative Meet hosted by UW-Whitewater Saturday.  Former UW-Whitewater All American, Dan Hytinen, competing unattached in the open meet, broke his own Rex Foster Track and Field Complex record with a toss of 196-2 in the discus.  Hytinen, a former NCAA III champion, met the USTFA "B" qualifying standard with his effort.

Team scores were UW-Whitewater 163, UW-Madison 157, UW-Oshkosh 102, UW-Stevens Point 74.5, UW-Platteville 58, Carroll University 51.5, UW-Parkside 34, Carthage College 30, Beloit College 23, Aurora University 21, Judson University 10, and Wisconsin Lutheran College 6.

Aron Kehoe (Monroe/Monroe) won the 1500 meters in 3:56.36, and the 4x400 relay came in first in 3:18.06.

Shaun Davis (Edgerton/Edgerton) was the top collegian in the discus (174-5), finishing second to Hytinen. Davis also placed fourth in the hammer throw, with his distance of 174-4 a provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA III championship (where he already has an automatic qualifying distance).

Whitewater had five more athletes place in two events.  Brian Gensrick (Mequon/Homestead) took third in the 110 hurdles (15.52) and seventh in the 400 hurdles (56.84).  Carey Passer (Milton/Milton) added more points in the hurdles, placing third in the 400 (56.84) and sixth in the 110 (16.49).  Joe Bailey (Hartford/Hartford Union) took fourth in the 200 (221.54) and fifth in the 100 (11.43).  Dean Bartel (Wind Lake/Muskego) captured more sprint points, earning sixth in the 200 (23.01) and in the 100 (11.54).  Mike Schmitt (Manitowoc/Roncalli) finished seventh in the 100 (11.70) and in the triple jump (42-4).  Brian Martinezdelacotera (Franklin/Franklin), fifth in the 200 (22.69) and second in the javelin (179-9).

#C.J. Miller#, fourth in the 100 (11.35), and Mike Rossbach (Dousman/Mukwonago), third in the 200 (22.52) helped UW-W dominate the sprints. 

Tom Fisher (Green Bay/East) (42-7.5) and Antwann Anderson (41-8) placed fifth and seventh, respectively, in the triple jump to add to Schmitt's points in that event.

Dave Schneekloth (Seymour/Seymour) took second in the 5000 meters (15:13.64) with teammate Ben Knapp (Stoughton/Stoughton) sixth (15:26.35). 

UW-W also had two placewinners in the 400, with Tim Prelletz (Crystal Lake, IL/Prairie Ridge) taking second (49.19) and Brakken Kraker (West Allis/West Allis Central) sixth (51.05).

Other placewinners for UW-W included #Luke Buchholz, second in the high jump (6-6.75); Jordan Truttschel (Kiel/Kiel), third in the steeplechase (10:02.2); Kyle O'Rourke, fourth in the 1500 (4:07.73); Also Joe Schneider (Wausau, WI/Wausau), fifth in the shot put (50-4.5) and Chris Pendergast (Hartland/Hartland Arrowhead), sixth in the pole vault (14-0).

UW-W's next meet will be the Warrior Open, hosted by Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota May 1st.  The next, and last, home meet of the season will be Warhawk Twilight Last Chance Meet May 19.
