Thompson and Weyer Honored

Katie Thompson (Kingsport, TN/Sullivan South) and Justine Weyer (Colgate/Germantown) have been selected as UW-Whitewater Gymnasts of the Week and Weyer was honored WIAC Specialist and All-Around Gymnast of the Week.

Thompson is the Warhawks Event Specialist Gymnast of the Week.  She placed sixth on the vault earning a 9.2, third on the balance beam earning a 9.15, and fourth on floor exercise earning a 9.05.  Her strong performance in these three events helped the 'Hawks defeat UW-Eau Claire 178.625 to 174.150.

Weyer is the Warhawk's All-Around Gymnast of the Week and WIAC Specialist and All-Around Gymnast of the Week.  In the meet against the Blugolds, Weyer nabbed first place in the All-Around with a 37.025, took fifth place on the vault earning a 9.225, finished second on the uneven bars with a 9.25, also finished second on the balance beam with a score of 9.2, and ended the night winning the floor exercise with a 9.35.  This marked the second meet in a row that Justine scored 37+ in the All-Around. 

Weyer also played a crucial part in helping the Warhawks obtain their second win of the weekend over Hamline University.  She placed first in all three events that she competed in, finishing with scores of 9.527 on vault, 9.525 on uneven bars, and 9.625 on balance beam.    

The Warhawks' next meet will be Saturday, February 6 at 4:00 pm in the Williams Center against UW-Stout.
