The UW-Whitewater gymnastics team, ranked number one according to latest GymInfo poll, made their mark in the UW-W record book with a 183.875-168.150 win over Hamline University Sunday afternoon.

The Warhawks earned their way into the UW-W record book nine times in seven different categories. Beginning with the total team score, Whitewater's 183.875 takes over the twelfth position in the record book.

Mary Kate Young (Lawrenceville, GA/Cullins Hill),
Veronica Overby (Kaneohe, HI/James B. Castle),
Leah Applin (Brooklyn Park, MN/Champlin Park),
Danielle Doll (Ingleside, IL/Carmel Catholic) and
Katie Thompson (Kingsport, TN/Sullivan South) took the top five places on the balance beam scoring 46.950 which is third best in the UW-W record book. Whitewater's Weyer, Applin,
Katrin Finch (Boise, ID/Boise), Thompson and Doll placed 1-5 in the vault recording a score of 47.125 which puts them in fifth for UW-W all-time. The Warhawks also had a top twenty score on the uneven bars with a score of 44.575 from Weyer,
Annie Mix (Olive Branch, MS/SBEC), Young, Overby and
Lauren Corrigan (Clarksville, TN/Clarksville).
Individually, UW-W had a gymnast atop the podium in all four events. Weyer earned top honors in three of the four including vault with a 9.575, bars scoring 9.525, and she recorded the high score at the meet for any event with a 9.625 on the balance beam which ties for fifth best in the UW-W record book. The vault and bars scores are also top twenty for Weyer.
Young also made her mark in the UW-W record book tying for eighth with a 9.60 on the beam and added to her stellar performance taking the top spot on the floor exercise with a 9.350. Mix found her way into the record book for the fourth time this season with a 9.45 on the bars.
The Warhawks return to Whitewater to face UW-Stout February 6. The meet is designated Breast Cancer Awareness and Alumni night and is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. in Williams Center.
