The UW-Whitewater women's volleyball team, ranked twelfth according to the American Volleyball Coaches Association, went undefeated at the UW-Whitewater Invitational with a 3-1 (25-19, 26-24, 11-25, 26-24) victory over Elmhurst College Saturday, September 26. The win brings UW-W's record to 13-4 and Elmhurst drops to 7-7.

Whitewater took over the first set pounding down 17 kills and rolling to a 25-19 win.
The second set played out much different as the Warhawks found themselves down a set point at 22-24. Out of a UW-W timeout the 'Hawks scored four straight points on kills from
Shaela Hayden (Harvard, IL/Harvard),
Caitlin Hogan (New London/New London), and
Katy Krajnak (Racine/Case) and a service ace by
Alyse Karls (Dane/Lodi) to win the set 26-24.
The momentum swung in favor of the Blue Jays in the third set as Elmhurst seemed to get a touch on almost every ball brought over by Whitewater. Throughout the set, EC gradually increased their lead and went on to win 25-11.
UW-W came back in set four with a vengance. Trailing by four, 5-9,
Alyssa Bauer (Naperville, IL/Central) went on an eleven point serve run that included three kills from Krajnak and two from Hayden to take the lead 17-9. The Blue Jays slowly crept back into the game but a big double block by Krajnak and Hogan ended the set with Whitewater notching the set win 26-24 and the match win 3-1.
Hayden led the Warhawks at the net with 15 kills,
Sofia Sanchez (Janesville/Craig) added 11, and Hogan and
Melissa Zuleger (Little Chute/Little Chute) pitched in 10 apiece.
Kelli Trautmann (Seymour/Little Chute) was one of three UW-W players that recorded double-digit digs with 25 to lead Whitewater. Bauer followed suit with 17 and
Annie Berkley (Racine/Washington Park) added 12.
The Warhawks are scheduled to host UW-La Crosse Wednesday, September 30 at 7:00 pm.
