The UW-Whitewater women's team defeated Alma College 2-1 in a close match Saturday, September 19, improving their record to 3-3 overall as Alma drops to 1-5-1.

Alma started the scoring in the 38th minute with a goal by Alli Meurer. The Warhawks answered back with a goal of their own just three minutes later as a Becky Cera (Wauwatosa/Wauwatosa West) corner kick was headed into the goal by Emily Gerber (DeForest/DeForest) for her sixth goal of the season.

In the second period, Megan Schlecht (Mukwonago/Mukwonago) scored off a pass from Kelsey Strohm (Madison/Memorial) to give the Warhawks the lead that they wouldn't relinquish. 

UW-W tallied 20 shots with 12 of them being on goal. The Warhawk defense held Alma to just six total shots and only three on goal.

Whitewater will face Olivet College in Olivet, Michigan at 11:00 a.m. Central time Sunday, September 20.
