The UW-Whitewater volleyball team, ranked ninth according to the
American Volleyball Coaches Association top 25 poll, won their first conference match of the season by defeating UW-Stout 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-10) in Menomonie, WI Friday, September 18.

Good defense and big plays at the net was the story of the match as Whitewater out-hit Stout by 30 kills, out-blocked them by two blocks, and out-played them on defense with 20 more digs.
Three Warhawks had ten kills in the match including
Keri Klotzbuecher (Clintonville/Clintonville),
Caitlin Hogan (New London/New London), and
Katy Krajnak (Racine/Case) who also added four assist blocks.
Defensively,
Alyssa Bauer (Naperville, IL/Central) had 15 digs,
Kelli Trautmann (Seymour/Little Chute) followed suit with 14, and Klotzbuecher added 12 more.
Senior setter
Alyse Karls (Dane/Lodi) dished out 39 of the 47 Warhawk assists.
Christina DeGroot (Kewaskum/Kewaskum) and Klotzbuecher had two service aces a piece.
Whitewater moves to 9-2 overall and 1-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as Stout drops to 8-4 overall and 0-1 in the WIAC.
