The UW-Whitewater volleyball team, ranked sixth according to the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, improved their win streak to 11 with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-17) win over Millikin University in the first match of the UW-Whitewater Invitational Friday.

The Warhawk hitters pounded their way to a 25-15 first set win with 14 kills. Whitewater servers paved the way for an easy 25-14 set two win with seven service aces including four from
Sofia Sanchez (Janesville/Craig), two by
Shaela Hayden (Harvard, IL/Harvard) and
Caitlin Hogan (New London/New London) added one of her own. The Big Blue were able to keep it close at the beginning of set three but the hard-hitting Warhawks proved to be too much for them to handle as UW-W took set three 25-17 and the match.
Sanchez led the team in both kills and service aces with eleven and four respectively.
Alyssa Bauer (Naperville, IL/Central) led the Warhawks in digs with a total of eleven.
The Warhawks improve to 27-5, while Millikin University drops to 18-15.
UW-W next plays at 7:00 pm tonight versus ninth ranked Carthage College for Student Athlete Night.
