Cole Wilber (Dana Point, Calif./Dana Hills), Sophomore, Quarterback
Wilber finished 14-of-23 passing for career highs of 246 yards and three touchdowns to help lead the No. 2 ranked Warhawks to a 30-24 victory at eighth-ranked UW-Platteville in the WIAC opener for both teams on Saturday. He matched his career long pass with a 68-yard touchdown toss to Manny Jones (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail) early in the second quarter, then hit Marcus Hudson (Delavan, Wis./Delavan-Darien) from 25 yards out later in the same period. Trailing 24-20 midway through the fourth quarter, Wilber led UW-Whitewater on a 15-play, 71-yard drive, completing two third down passes inside the Pioneers' 25-yard line, including a 4-yard touchdown to Canton Larson (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) with 3:58 to play. For his efforts, he was named the team's Offensive MVP of the 22nd annual George Chryst Bowl for the Miner's Axe.
