Mertins won the singles competition and helped the No. 18 Warhawks place sixth in the team competition over the weekend at the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team Championships Addison (Ill.) Sectional. She started the weekend Friday by placing first out of 225 players with a six-game traditional score of 1,386, including a high of 264. On Saturday and Sunday, Mertins posted a 90 percent fill percentage, including a 48 percent strike percentage, and coverted 32-of-36 (88 percent) of 9-spare opportunities. By winning the singles tournament, Mertins has qualified for the ITC Singles Championships on April 19-20 back in Addison.
