Schommer closed his senior year as a two-time All-American in the pole vault for the Warhawk track and field team. He finished eighth in the event at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Championships and qualified as the No. 11 seed for the 2020 NCAA Indoor Championships, which were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Schommer tallied his personal-record height in the pole vault in February with a 15-10.50 (4.84 meters) at North Central's Slick Invitational. A three-time national qualifier and two-time All-Midwest Region honoree for his career, Schommer was a three-year member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. He is majoring in biology.
