Fassbender won the annual Tom Hoffman Invitational for the second straight year on Saturday at the UW-Whitewater Cross Country Trails, topping a field of 76 runners. His time of 26:03.8 was 33 seconds faster than last season’s time at the same race, 45 seconds faster than the runner-up and the ninth-fastest time ever recorded by a Warhawk runner on the home course. Fassbender’s performance helped UW-Whitewater win the seven-team race.
