Steve Hillmer, Director of Sports Medicine, has worked for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater since 1999.

Hillmer was promoted from assistant athletic trainer to head athletic trainer in 2005.

Hillmer currently serves as the District IV representative for the National Athletic Trainers' Association's Intercollegiate Council for Sports Medicine - Division III as well as the chairperson for the WIAC Sports Medicine Committee. He is also the athletic department's representative on UW-Whitewater's CARE Team.

Hillmer has his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and his master’s degree in exercise science. Hillmer is a licensed athletic trainer and a certified member of the NATA.
