John Schimenz has worked for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (UWW) since 2020.

Prior to joining the Warhawks, Schimenz was a graduate student strength and conditioning coach at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UWL) from 2017-20. He presented training load and fatigue research at the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Wisconsin State Clinic.

Schimenz started his professional career in the New Prague Area School District in Minnesota, where he served as the strength and conditioning coordinator, physical education teacher, and math teacher from 2014-17.

During his undergraduate career at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UWRF), Schimenz held internships in strength and conditioning at UW-River Falls, the University of Minnesota, and Webber International University (Florida).

Schimenz graduated with a master's degree in exercise and sport science from UWL in 2020, and an undergraduate degree in the same subject from UWRF in 2014.  While at UWRF, Schimenz was a four-year letter winner in football.

Schimenz is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and a Level 1 Sports Performance Coach by USA Weightlifting.  Additionally, he serves as a kinesiology instructor at UWW.  He resides in Jefferson with his wife, Annie.
