Andrea Wieland

Andrea Wieland, a former student-athlete at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and coach with more than 10 years of experience teaching golf, enters her seventh year as Head Women’s Golf Coach at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2022-23.

Wieland has led the Warhawks to five straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships (2017, 2018, 2019, spring 2021, fall 2021), and the team has set numerous 18-, 36- and 54-hole program records during her tenure. UW-W has placed among the top 20 in the nation four times since 2018.

Wieland was named WIAC Coach of the Year in both 2020-21 and 2021-22, when the Warhawks claimed consecutive conference titles and appearances at the NCAA Division III Championship.

All five starters on UW-Whitewater's 2019 team were named all-conference, including four first team selections. The Warhawks claimed their third consecutive league title and would have competed in their third straight NCAA Championship if not for the cancellation of the spring season due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

In 2018 and 2019, UW-Whitewater claimed back-to-back WIAC Championships for the first time in program history. In 2018, the Warhawks moved up the leaderboard over each of the national tournament's four days, making the cut before moving up three more spots in the final round to finish 12th overall. In 2019, the Warhawks started the NCAA championship in 13th and held the position firmly through the final round.

Under Wieland's leadership, UW-Whitewater set school records for lowest team 18-, 36-, 54- and 72-hole scores. CheyAnn Knudsen became the program's first All-Region honoree since 2012.

In Wieland's first year at the helm, the Warhawks won a pair of tournaments and placed third at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship during the fall. Ashley Hofmeister earned medalist honors at the conference meet to become the school's first league champion since 1999.

Prior to UW-Whitewater, Wieland served as head girls golf coach at Milton High School, where she led the Red Hawks to a handful of top-five finishes at the WIAA Division I State Tournament, including runner-up finishes in 2010 and 2011.

In Wieland’s 12 years at the helm of the program, Milton girls golf tallied eight regional championships, five sectional titles, two conference championships and one individual state title.

Wieland oversaw all aspects of the program, including camps, clinics and the team’s booster club. She is a member of the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

Wieland has also worked as owner and operator of Oak Ridge Golf Course in Milton. She and her husband, Kirk, have been running day-to-day operations since 2001 and took full ownership of the course in 2015.

Wieland is also a member of the Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin, including a stint as president of the organization in 2014-15. She also served as a member of the WIAA Coaches Advisory Committee from 2011-15.

A four-year letter winner at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1997-2000, Wieland was a four-time National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar and the Wisconsin Women’s State Golf Association Amateur Player of the Year in 1999.

Following graduation with a bachelor’s in business management and human resources from UW in 2000, Wieland played professionally on various mini-tours from 2001-03.

Wieland also serves as a part-time lecturer for UW-Whitewater’s Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Coaching.

Wieland is the fifth coach in the program’s history.
