Jason Pernat

  • Title
    Assistant Coach

Jason is in his second year as an assistant at UW Whitewater.  He brings a wealth of wrestling knowledge to the upper weight class wrestlers for the Warhawks.  Jason was a 3X State placewinner for Milton High school and won a state championship his senior year.  He continued that success in college wrestling at the University of Wisconsin.  Jason wrestled heavyweight for the Badgers from 1997-2001.  The highlight of his college wrestling career included qualifying for the Division I NCAA tournament in 2000.  Jason has strong wrestling roots as his father, Dan, was a NCAA runner up for the Wisconsin Badgers and his brother Mike wrestled collegiately at UW LaCrosse.  Jason is single and works independently in Chicago and Whitewater.  He works primarily with the wrestling skills of the upperweight wrestlers and in strength and conditioning.

"I think Jason rounds out our coaching staff perfectly.  He has a lot of experience at the Division I level and his entire family is a wrestling family.  I like how he relates with our big guys and I think he will make more and more of an impact as he is around this program-Z and JP make a pretty formidable opponent for any of our guys that weigh 190+!!"
