Bart Chelesvig, a 25-year coaching veteran, was hired as interim assistant head wrestling coach at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in October 2018.
Chelesvig served as head assistant wrestling coach at the University of Wisconsin from 1993-2009, assisting with office operations, organizing fundraising and outreach opportunities and working in all training, recruiting and scheduling aspects. He helped develop and coach 31 All-Americans during his tenure with the Badgers.
Chelesvig was a three-time Big Ten runner-up as a wrestler at the University of Iowa, finishing in third place at the NCAA Division I Championships at 167 pounds (1990) and twice at 177 pounds (1991, 1992).
A native of Webster City, Iowa, Chelesvig graduated from Iowa with a bachelor’s in physical education in 1992. He has been working as a freestyle youth wrestling coach in Johnston, Iowa, since 2013 while offering private lessons for the last 25 years.
