Dave Wiederrecht

Coach Wiederrecht ('Wied.') came to UW-Whitewater in 2005 as Head Women's Track and Field Coach. During that time the team has experienced many outstanding accomplishments. The 2008 Women's Track and Field was the largest competing women's team in UW-Whitewater history. Ten different athletes have qualified for NCAA Division III National Track and Field Championship Meets in 15 different events. From the qualifiers, three have been awarded All-America recognition. in 2008, one of the All-Americans was the second National Champion in team history. Warhawk Track and Field has crowned 6 WIAC individual champions and 3 runner-ups. There have been 11 records broken since the 2005-2006 season. Additionally, 43 indoor and 47 outdoor All-time top 10 performancer have made their mark on the list. 
 
Coach Wied. came to Whitewater with track and field coaching experience ranging from junior high through Division I level. Wied. has coached numerous conference place winners and champions, high school state place winners and champions and NCAA All-Americans.
 
“I have been blessed to coach some amazingly gifted athletes, but I am interested in all athletes being able to achieve a level of success that they have never competed at before. I believe in improving the physical attributes and technique of all athlete as well as using motivational and mental preparation techniques to enhance performance.” We keep records for all performances during the season and monitor seasonal and All-time personal bests. During the 2008 season there were 261 seasonal and 167 All-time best during the Indoor season and 172 seasonal and 122 All-time best during the Outdoor season.
 
Prior to coming to UW-Whitewater, Wiederrecht held professional educator positions in Pennsylvania and Maryland. He was an associate professor of health and physical education at Cecil Community College in North East, Maryland from 2000 until 2005, and prior to that taught at the Red Lion Area Junior High School. His coaching background includes serving as a volunteer assistant at York College of Pennsylvania for the 2005 season, serving in the same capacity for the University of Delaware in 2004, and serving as the assistant women's and men's track and field coach at Messiah College 2000-2003. He was part of the coaching staff of the Men's MAC Outdoor Team Champion in 2002. He also coached cross country and track and field for eight years at the junior high and high school level. He was part of the coaching staff for YAIAA Champions in girl's Cross Country that won in 1992-1994 and won in boy's track and field in 1997. Wiederrecht graduated from Messiah College with a degree in exercise science and physical education in 1991. While at Messiah he captained the track and field team for two years, won three conference event championships, and earned National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III All-American honors twice in 1989 and 1990 in the 400 Hurdles. He received a master of science in exercise science and physical education from Western Maryland College in May 2000.
 
Wiederrecht's professional memberships include the USTFCCA (since 2005), the National Strength and Conditioning Association (since 2001) where he is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and is a USATF Level I and Level II Sprints, Hurdles and Relays Certified Coach. Wied. also teaches various courses in the HPERC department and supervises Physical Education student teachers.
