Steve Evans begins his 26th season as the pitching coach for the UW-Whitewater softball team in 2022-23.  Throughout his time at UW-Whitewater, he has coached a two-time All-American pitcher and has had four different individuals named WIAC Pitcher of the Year.  Evans has also coached seven of the top nine all-time win leaders, the top nine strikeout leaders, and the top ten save leaders at UW-W.
 
Evans has more than 50 years of fastpitch experience.  He has over 900 career victories as a fastpitch player.  Some of his career highlights include 100 career shutouts, seven-time ASA League All Star, as well as pitching a no-hitter at the 2001 45 & over National Tournament.
 
Prior to coming to UW-Whitewater, Evans instructed pitchers who attended Vanderbilt University, Northern Illinois University, Valparaiso University, and St. Joseph's College. Evans was an elementary school teacher and principal for many years before becoming an agent for American Family Insurance, where he worked for 27 years. Currently, he is enjoying retirement and his Airbnb business with his wife, Jen.
