Boyce Hodge was named UW-Whitewater men’s assistant basketball coach prior to the start of the 2009-2010 season. Before joining the Warhawks he was head boys basketball coach, athletic director and minority service coordinator for Madison (WI) West high school.

During his 12 year stint as head coach, he led Madison West to two Big Eight Conference championships, six WIAA regional championships, two WIAA sectional championships and two WIAA state tournament appearances.

Hodge coached multiple players who went on to compete at the NJCAA, NCAA and professional levels; most notably Reece Gaines who went on to earn All-American honors for the University of Louisville Cardinals.

Hodge is the only coach in city of Madison history to coach a NBA first round draft pick (Reece Gaines 2003 Orlando Magic). That draft included the likes of LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade.

Hodge was a member of the UW-Whitewater men’s basketball team from 1985-1987 earning all WIAC (WSUC) honors. Prior to playing for the Warhawks, Hodge competed two years (1981-1983) at Minneapolis (MN) Community College earning All-State honors.

Hodge holds an Associates degree from Minneapolis Community College (1984), Bachelors degree from UW-Whitewater (1993) and a Masters degree from UW-Madison (1995). Hodge and his wife Fonda have two children; Marten age 23 (Bachelors degree, UW-Whitewater, 2009) and Leigha 15.
