Warhawk SAAC

Warhawk student-athletes are dedicated to conference, region and NCAA wide engagement.

WHAT IS "SAAC"?

The UW-Whitewater Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is a group made up of student-athlete leaders from each of the 20 varsity sport teams.
  • Voice for Student-Athletes State, Region and NCAA wide
  • NCAA Legislation Voting Body
  • Coordinating group for Warhawk Outreach

SAAC functions as a voice for student-athletes with respect to NCAA legislation. The primary purpose of this group is to provide student-athletes with an active role in the governance of the conference.

The committee is committed to enhancing the educational experience of the student-athlete and organizes Warhawk Outreach efforts for the campus and community.

The UW-Whitewater SAAC has a President and Vice President who represent the institution at Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) SAAC meetings.

Warhawks Give Back

 
Warhawk student-athletes are committed to engaging with the greater Whitewater community.


Mission:
UW-Whitewater Athletics is driven by a constant pursuit of excellence, innovation, engagement and collaboration.

Purpose:
The Warhawks Give Back program is an initiative to develop relationships on campus, throughout Whitewater and in the greater community. This program is organized by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Goal:
To enhance our communication with external audiences and allow us to tell a comprehensive story of the Warhawk student-athlete experience.

 
SAAC Opportunities for Community and Civic Engagement

Reading with the Warhawks

Warhawk student-athletes volunteer to spend time reading books to children at area grade schools.

Moving with the Warhawks
Warhawk student-athletes volunteer to spend time exercising/playing sports with area grade school and middle school students during their recess or gym class.

Fairhaven Visits
Warhawk student-athletes volunteer to visit residents at Fairhaven Senior Services. Some activities the student-athletes take part in alongside the residents include playing bingo and cards, carving pumpkins, decorating cookies and making various arts and crafts. Many residents of Fairhaven area also special guests at Warhawk sporting events.

The Polar Plunge
Every February, Warhawk student-athletes find sponsors to support their Polar Plunge,“freezin for a reason” as all proceeds go to the Special Olympics of Wisconsin. Read about last year's successful event here.
 
The Leader In Me Program
  • Warhawk student-athletes participate in The Leader in Me Program at Lincoln Elementary School
  • This program is designed to teach 21st century leadership and life skills to students and create a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader. For more information, visit the Leader In Me program website.
