The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team hosted the 55th annual Warhawk Fall Invitational on the Warhawk Tennis Courts on Saturday, September 5th. 

The Warhawks reached the final match in two of the three singles flights, with one doubles team placing third in the top doubles draw.

Ava Andrea and Alex Repplier (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) grabbed their opening match with a close 8-7(5) tiebreaker win over a pair from Luther. The pair fell to the #1-seed from UW-La Crosse, but bounced back with a 8-3 victory over UW-Eau Claire in the 3rd place match.

In the singles brackets, two Warhawks reached the championship match in their respective brackets. In the Singles #1 Draw, Abby Weaver defeated Magdalena Kristo (UW-Eau Claire) and Lena Lichau (Luther) and faced Pari Chavan (Grinnell) in the championship match. Weaver won the match, taking the first set 6-2 and was leading 4-2 in the second set before a retire.

In the #3 Singles bracket, Ashley Adkisson (Lincolnshire, Ill./Stevenson) won her first two matches both with scores of 6-4, 6-2. In the championship match, Adkisson faced Luiza Kohn (Grinnell). Kohn took set one, 2-6, but Adkisson battled back in set two, forcing a tiebreaker in the set. Adkisson fell 4-7 in the tiebreaker, taking second place in the draw.

The Warhawks begin conference play next weekend, heading to UW-Stout Polytechnic on Sunday, September 13th. The match with the Blue Devils begins at 9 AM, then the team will head up the road to UW-River Falls for a 2:30 PM dual the same day.
