Golfers Finish Sixth at UWW Invite

MADISON, WI -- The Warhawk women's golf team finished sixth in the 17-team field at the team's annual fall invite held at TPC Wisconsin. 

Norah Berken (Kaukauna, Wis./Kaukauna) paced UWW with a 78 Monday for a two-day total of 157 to finish tied for 10th on the individual leaderboard. Delainey Halverson (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) added a top 20 individual finish with a total of 161. Megan Honn (LaFayette, Ind./Jefferson) had the second-best score for a Warhawk Monday, carding a 79, with a two-round total of 166. Elizabeth Vanderhei (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) (170) and Payton Schmidt (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) (177) rounded out the group. 

A second UWW squad finished 17th. Breezy Roman (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) matched Honn's 79 Monday to lead the group with a total of 160 - good for 16th on the individual leaderboard. Alexa Reed (Pewaukee, Wis./Arrowhead) (178), Maeve Niemiec (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) (179), Natalie Kammer (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) (180) and Avery Sallmann (Dousman, Wis./Kettle Moraine) (186) joined Roman in the group. 

Kaylee Erickson (Eau Claire, Wis./North) (176) and Olivia Kernen (Appleton, Wis./Hortonville) (179) represented UW-Whitewater as individuals at the invitational.

The Warhawks will have a week off to prepare for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships. The league championship will be held Reedsburg Country Club October 9-11.

The Warhawks were +42 on day one led by two among the top 15 on the individual leaderboard. Norah Berken (Kaukauna, Wis./Kaukauna) shot a +7 while Delainey Halverson (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) came in with a +8 to rank 12th and 15th respectively individually. Elizabeth Vanderhei (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) was 12 over par followed by Megan Honn (LaFayette, Ind./Jefferson) (+15) and Payton Schmidt (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) (+21). 

A second UWW squad is in 15th led by a +9 day from Breezy Roman (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) - a top 20 mark on the individual leaderboard. She is followed by Maeve Niemiec (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) (+16), Natalie Kammer (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) (+16), Alexa Reed (Pewaukee, Wis./Arrowhead) (+18) and Avery Sallmann (Dousman, Wis./Kettle Moraine) (+18). 

Olivia Kernen (Appleton, Wis./Hortonville) (+19) and Kaylee Erickson (Eau Claire, Wis./North) (+23) are representing UW-Whitewater as individuals. 

The Warhawks will tee off for round two at TPC Wisconsin Monday at 9 AM.
