UWW Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week (April 27th)

Baseball

Bowers, Leyton

Position: Leyten Bowers — Infield — Senior — Mineral Point, Wis./Mineral Point
 

Leyten Bowers led the Warhawks at the plate during a 6-0 week, as UWW extended its win streak to 30 & clinched the WIAC regular-season title. Bowers went .480 (12-for-25) from the plate with 8 RBIs & scored 9 runs himself. Bowers had a 1.000 slugging percentage, hitting 4 doubles & three home runs. 
 

Koenig, Jackson

Pitcher: Jackson Koenig — INF/Pitcher — Blaine, Minn./Blaine
 

Jackson Koenig had a win and a save in two appearances this week for the Warhawks. In his first appearance, Koenig protected a 7-5 lead in the ninth inning, retiring the side for the save against UW-Oshkosh. Against UW-River Falls, Koenig pitched a complete game shutout, only giving up two hits & two walks. In his 10.0 innings of the week, Koenig struck out six, not giving up a single run.
 

Softball

Position: Bella Eggert – Senior – Outfield – Carol Stream, Ill./Glenbard North
 

Bella Eggert reached base safely in all eight of UW-Whitewater’s games last week. The lone game she did not record a hit in, Eggert registered a sacrifice and drew a walk. The senior opened the week going 5-8 at the plate against UW-Oshkosh. For the week, Eggert was 10-25 (.400) in the batter’s box while recording 11 putouts in center field without issuing an error. 
 

Pitcher: Kaitlyn Marsh – Freshman – Pitcher 
 

Kaitlyn Marsh went 2-1 in four appearances in the circle last week. The freshman suffered a loss to the top-20 Titans before shutting out opposing offenses in her next three appearances. Marsh struck out two and scattered three hits across 2.1 innings in a no decision against UW-Stout. Marsh picked up a win in 4.2 shutout innings against Elmhurst before capping the week with 4.2 scoreless innings in UWW’s run-rule over UW-River Falls. For the week, the righty posted an ERA of just 1.17. 
 

Men's Tennis

Kelleher, Gavin

Singles: Gavin Kelleher — Sophomore — Brooklyn, Minn./Champlin Park
 

Gavin Kelleher clinched the match point in the Warhawks' regular-season finale against Kalamazoo. Kelleher defeated Will Seymour in straight sets (7-5, 6-4) at No. 4 singles to give the Warhawks the 4-3 win over the 30th-ranked Hornets.

Morgan, Charles

Doubles: Gavin Kelleher — Sophomore — Brooklyn, Minn./Champlin Park & Charles Morgan — Sophomore — Naperville, Ill./Central


Gavin Kelleher & Charles Morgan grabbed the doubles point with their 6-2 win over the No. 2 doubles pair from Kalamazoo. The Warhawks went on to defeat the 30th-ranked Hornets 4-3.
 

Track & Field

Erickson, Jack

Men's Track: Jack Erickson – Sophomore – Belleville, Wis./Belleville
 

Jack Erickson won the 400 hurdles at UW-Whitewater’s Drake Alternative Saturday. Erickson crossed the line in 53.68 – a top 10 time in program history and the fifth-fastest in the WIAC this season. His time also ranks among the top 30 nationally.

 

Men's Field: Jordan Jackson – Junior – Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran
 

Jordan Jackson posted a career best to finish fourth in the shot put with a mark of 15.08 meters (49-5.75) at UW-Whitewater’s Drake Alternative Meet Saturday. 

 

Stennett, Cici

Women's Track: Cici Stennett – Sophomore – Barrington, Ill./Barrington
 

Cici Stennett posted the second-fastest 100 time in the conference at UW-Whitewater’s Drake Alternative Saturday. The sophomore was clocked in 11.80 – ranked 12th in Division this season and the third-fastest 100 time in program history. Stennett also registered a time of 24.39 in the 200 – 5th in the WIAC, 19th nationally and another top 10 time in the UWW record book.

 

Czarnecki, Ryleigh

Women's Field: Ryleigh Czarnecki – Junior – Muskego, Wis./Muskego


Ryleigh Czarnecki recorded a distance of 42.69 meters (140-1) in the discus at UW-Whitewater’s Drake Alternative Meet Saturday. That mark is ranked sixth in the league this season. She added a mark of 47.21 meters (154-11) in the hammer throw to move into the top 15 in the WIAC.
