In game two, UW-Whitewater plated runs in five of seven innings, holding off a late threat from Ithaca for the win.
The Warhawks struck first as Radish drew a bases loaded walk for a 1-0 lead. The Bombers tied it up in the bottom of the inning and then claimed the lead with a pair in the second.
The top of the third saw two Warhawks touch home on an Ybarra RBI groundout and Weidemann RBI back knock. UWW extended the advantage to three in the fourth as
Grace Grabowy (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey) and
Emma Giese (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail) put the ball in play to allow runners to score.
Ithaca came back with one in the fourth but
Taylor Koehler (Wauconda, Ill./Wauconda) had the response with a RBI double to right center to make it 7-4.
The Bombers narrowed the gap to one with a pair of runs in the fifth before Ybarra capped the scoring in the sixth with a groundout that had
Belle Lapacek (Downers Grove, Ill./South) coming in to score for the 8-6 final.
IC threatened in the bottom of the seventh with back-to-back one-out singles but
Brooke Hock (Green Bay, Wis./Preble) sent the next Bomber back to the dugout on a backwards K. She forced a soft liner that was easily hauled in by Radish at first for the final out of the game.
Bella Eggert (Carol Stream, Ill./Glenbard North),
Maggie Ward (Downers Grove, Ill./North) and
Dani Peshia (Newark, Ill./Newark Community) combined for six of the Warhawks' nine hits in game two. In the circle,
