Basketball

Verges, Isaac

Men’s Basketball – Isaac Verges – Senior – Guard – Franklin, Wis./Franklin

Isaac Verges led the Warhawks in two close games that came down to the wire. Against UW-La Crosse, Verges shot an efficient 60% from the floor, scoring 18 points, with 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Against UW-Stout, the senior guard had a team-high 20 points, with 7 rebounds, and 2 assists. Against the Blue Devils, Verges made all three of his three-point attempts. On the week, Verges averaged 19 points per game, on 56% shooting from the floor, 75% from three, and 90% from the free throw line.

Stenklyft, Brooke

Women’s Basketball: Brooke Stenklyft – Freshman – Forward – Cambridge, Wis./Cambridge

Brooke Stenklyft was efficient offensively to help UWW to a 1-1 week on the hardwood. The freshman forward made 6-7 from the floor (85.7%), was a perfect 1-1 from three-point range and hit 8-13 from the charity stripe in the two-game span. For the week, Stenklyft averaged 10.5 points in over 27 minutes of action per game.

Gymnastics

Specialist: Ashnaya Gupta – Senior – Carmel, Ind./Carmel

Ashnaya Gupta won the balance beam to help lead UW-Whitewater to a dual meet victory over Winona State Saturday. Gupta scored a 9.625 on the event to claim gold.

Multi-Event: Paige Magel – Junior – Cary, Ill./Prairie Ridge

Paige Magel put together solid performances on three events to help lead the Warhawks to a dual meet win over Winona State on Saturday. Magel’s top finish came on the uneven bars with a 9.55 for second place. The junior finished fourth on the balance beam with a score of 9.5 and she added a 9.425 on the floor exercise for eighth.

Men's Tennis

Moeller, Daniel

Singles: Keith Moeller – Sophomore – Dallas, Texas/DKM-I University Prep

Keith Moeller went 2-0 over the weekend in Warhawk duals. Moeller competed at the sixth singles flight in UWW's dual against Luther. His straight set win (6-2, 7-5), Moeller clinched the match point for the Warhawks as they defeated the Norse, 4-3. On Sunday against Grinnell, Moeller took another straight set win at the sixth singles flight.

Jonsson, Julius

Doubles: Keith Moeller – Sophomore – Dallas, Texas/DKM-I University Prep & Julius Jonsson – Freshman – Kungbacka, Sweden/Aranasgymnasiet

Keith Moeller and Julius Jonsson went 2-1 as a pair in the Warhawks’ three dual matches over the weekend. On Friday, Moeller and Jonsson defeated Wheaton’s third doubles squad 6-1 and Luther’s pair 7-5. Their lone loss was to Grinnell 6(6)-7 on Sunday.

Track & Field

Vargas, Samuel

Men's Track: Sam Vargas – Sophomore – Sprints – Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead

Sam Vargas won the 60-meter dash at the Big Dawg Invitational with a season best time of 6.87. He bested the competition by nearly two-tenths with a time that ranks 31st in Division III this season.

Froslee, Jackson

Men's Field: Jack Froslee – Freshman – Pole Vault – Andover, Minn./Andover

Jack Froslee won the pole vault at the Big Dawg Invitational Saturday. The freshman registered a mark of 4.60 meters (15-1) to win the event by over five inches.

Henningfeld, Emma

Women's Track: Emma Henningfeld – Junior – Distance – East Troy, Wis./East Troy

Emma Henningfeld led the pack in the mile at the Big Dawg Invitational Saturday. The junior crossed the line with a career best time of 5:16.28.

Women's Field:  Emily Mohs – Junior – Horizontal Jumps – Germantown, Wis./Germantown

Emily Mohs crushed the competition in the triple jump at the Big Dawg Invitational Saturday. Mohs recorded a distance of 10.53 meters (34-6.75) to win the event by over 10 inches.

Wrestling

Kirchner, Callen

Wrestling: Callen Kirchner – Freshman – 165 Pounds – Hoffman Estates, Ill./Schaumburg

Callen Kirchner finished fourth in the 165-pound bracket at the Don Parker Open Saturday. The freshman went 2-2 with a 4-0 win over Platteville’s Liam Fox and a 10-2 major decision over Augsburg’s Lucas Kral. His two losses came to a pair of Augsburg opponents.
