Women's Track & Field Compete at Eagle Invite

Huerta places in top-3 of the 60m & 200m

The UW-Whitewater women's track and field team competed in the Caged Eagle Invite held in La Crosse on Friday evening. 

The Warhawks distance medley relay started off the event with a top 20 NCAA Division III time & the fourth-best time in program history. Emma Henningfeld (East Troy, Wis./East Troy), Kiersten Dellar (Waukesha, Wis./Watertown Lutheran Prep), Addi Kowalewski (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead), and Katie Erb (Winnebago, Ill./Winnebago) timed in at 12:13.81, taking sixth in the event.

The Warhawks sent two sprinters into the 60m finals, with Kelly Huerta (McHenry, Ill./McHenry) & Cici Stennett (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) both placing in the top-8. Huerta timed in at 7.76 to finish second overall, and Stennett went 6th with a 7.84. 

Huerta also placed third in the 200m, leading the Warhawks with a 25.47. She was joined by Danielle Pouska (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) & Alyssa Stacy (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) in the top-10. Pouska timed in at 25.79 to finish 6th overall, and Stacy was right behind with a 25.85 for 7th place. 

In the longest event of the night, Ella Hansen (Pewaukee, Wis./UW-Parkside) paced the Warhawks, finishing 7th overall in the 3000m. Hansen timed in at 11:00.35

For high jump, UWW placed four in the top-10 finalists. Abby Burr (Lancaster, Wis./Lancaster) placed fourth overall, clearing the 1.60m bar. Mercedi Lapacek (Poynette, Wis./Poynette), Zoe Roder (Waukesha, Wis./South), & Brynn Guerstenberg all placed in the top-10, clearing the 1.55m bar. 

In the horizontal jumps, Faith Gaston (Gurnee, Ill./Warren) placed 7th overall in the long jump, reaching a 5.03m mark. For triple jump, UWW had two in the top-8, with Lexie Weier (Mineral Point, WI/Mineral Point) taking fourth with a 10.72m leap and Emily Mohs (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) placing 8th with a 9.85m mark. 

In the throwing pit, the Warhawks had a successful day in the weight throw. Three UWW athletes made the top-8 in the event. Ryleigh Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) placed 5th overall with a 15.68m toss, with Lou Matulenko (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) -- 15.39m -- & Carly Zingsheim -- 14.81m -- placing 7th & 8th.
