The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team faced off against an NCAA Division I opponent on Sunday evening, taking on Northern Illinois in DeKalb. 

The Huskies picked up the doubles point with wins at the first & third doubles flights, but the Warhawk pair of Gavin Kelleher (Brooklyn, Minn./Champlin Park) and Charles Morgan (Naperville, Ill./Central) won the second doubles flight over their DI opponents. The Warhawk pair won the first five games of the match, carrying the momentum into a 6-2 win.

In the single flights, NIU was able to take the top five flights in straight sets, but Parker Sprauge grabbed the lone Warhawk point with a third-set tiebreaker win at the sixth singles flight. 

Parker Sprauge dropped his first set 0-6, but turned the momentum in the second set. Sprague was down 5-2 in the second set, but won three games in a row to keep the match going. Sprague forced a tiebreaker in the second set, winning it 7-4.

Sprauge carried the momentum into the match tiebreaker, winning five of the first six points. NIU's Gustavo Juarez Lopez stormed back in the tiebreaker, but Sprauge was able to pick up the win with a 10-8 third-set tiebreaker.

The Warhawks return to Lake Geneva for two dual matches next weekend. UW-Whitewater will face North Central College on Friday, February 27th, then Coe College on Saturday, February 28th.
