UWW Women Wrap Up Squig Converse Invite on Saturday

18 Personal Records, 5 Season Bests, and 1 Top-3 Time highlight the Second Day

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's track and field wrapped up the Squig Converse Invite on Saturday. The Warhawk women had 18 personal records, five season bests, and one top-3 time in the Warhawk record books in the second day of competition. 

To start the day, Jackson Koppen (Sun Prairie, Wis./East) finished his men's heptathlon events with the 60m hurdles, pole vault, and 1000m run. Koppen maintained his position from the Friday events, finishing 5th overall with a total of 3955 points. 

Alyssa Stacy (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) led things off for the Warhawks in the 60m dash, timing in at 8.03 in the prelims. Maddy Bratel (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) (8.09) and Shay Schuh (Janesville, Wis./Parker) (8.22) also set personal bests in the 60m, while Faith Gaston (Gurnee, Ill./Warren) had a season best of 8.19. Stacy went on to beat her personal best in the finals, timing in at 7.93 to take third overall and matching the 10th best time in Warhawk program history.

Stacy also finished first in the 200m, timing in at 26.25 to take the top spot in the meet. Bratel took 8th overall out of over 50 runners timing in at 26.80.

Hannah Bilodeau-Wahl (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) finished 8th overall in the 400m, finishing at 1:01.21. 

The Warhawks had three in the top-eight of the 800m. Emma Henningfeld (East Troy, Wis./East Troy) was the top Warhawk, completing four laps in 2:24.66. Addi Kowaleski finished right behind her at 2:25.37 for third, while Brinley Everson (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) set a personal best at 2:27.64 for 8th place.

In the longest race of the day, Katie Erb (Winnebago, Ill./Winnebago) and Abi Anderson (Janesville, Wis./Craig) finished inside the top-10 of the women's 3000m which had over 40 athletes competing. Erb finished third overall with a time of 10:19.82, notching the third best time in program history. Anderson was 7th with a time of 10:39.24. 

Over in the jumps, Danielle Pouska (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) and Zoe Roder (Waukesha, Wis./South) both set personal bests in the high jump, surpassing the 1.62m (5-03.75) bar to take 6th and 7th place. The 1.62m mark is the 8th-highest in program history.

In long jump, Cherish Smith (Beloit, Wis./Turner) had a season best 4.65m leap on her last attempt. Lexie Weier (Mineral Point, WI/Mineral Point) placed 8th overall in the triple jump, also marking a season best 10.60m on her first attempt of the day.

Ryleigh Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) reached the finals with a 15.10m toss on her final attempt of weight throw prelims. Czarnecki placed 4th overall with a 15.13m toss in the finals. Lou Matulenko (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) joined Czarnecki in the finals, with a 14.75m toss to place 8th overall in the event. 

In the shot put ring, Jenna Wilkinson (Sun Prairie, WI/Sun Prairie) had a personal best 11.96m toss to send her into the finals, Wilkinson finished 9th overall in the shot put.

The Warhawks track & field teams will be back in action next weekend at the Big Dawg Invite hosted by UW-Stevens Point. UWW will then host the Midwest Elite on February 13th & 14th in the Kachel Fieldhouse.
