The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team began competition in the ITA Midwest Regional on Friday in St. Peter, Minnesota. The Warhawks had a successful first day, sending four singles and three doubles through to the second day of competition. 

In the singles brackets, it was multiple close matches for the Warhawks.
David Klaas (Madison, Wis./Vel Phillips Memorial) & Keith Moeller (Dallas, Tex./DKM-I University Prep) both advanced to the second day, battling through tiebreaker matches. 

In Klaas's first match of the day, the freshman took a 6-2, 6-2 victory. In the second round, Klaas recorded another 6-2 first set, but fell 4-6 in the second to set up the tiebreaker. Klaas pulled ahead right at the end with a 12-10 tiebreaker to move to the second day.

For Moeller, his first round went to the tiebreaker, but Moeller battled through in the marathon 18-16 tiebreaker to advance to the second round. Moeller took his second match of the day 6-5, 7-6 to move onto Saturday.

Charles Morgan (Naperville, Ill./Central) also advanced to Day 2 in the singles bracket. After a first round bye, Morgan wasted no time securing his spot with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Satav from Grinnell.

Theo Billson (Lindfield, England/BHASVIC) advanced as well, taking his lone match of the day 6-3, 6-0. Billson, the second overall seed will face Saavedra from MSOE tomorrow morning when singles play resumes. 

In the doubles matches, the Warhawks sent through three of their five pairs competing. 

Billson & Luke Blumentritt (Granger, Ind./Indiana Connections Academy), the second overall seed took their match 8-2. Keith Moeller (Dallas, Tex./DKM-I University Prep) & Carter Michaels (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Eagan) took their match in a closer 8-7 win. The final Warhawk pair of Charles Morgan (Naperville, Ill./Central) & Gavin Kelleher (Brooklyn, Minn./Champlin Park) advanced after a withdrawal.

Doubles play in the ITA Midwest Regional resumes at 2:30 PM on Saturday.
