Women's Track & Field Hosts Karl Schlender Invite

Whitewater, Wis. -- The UW-Whitewater women's track and field team hosted their first meet of the indoor campaign - the Karl Schlender Invite - Saturday. The meet featured athletes representing NAIA, NCAA Division III, NCAA Division I and the Greater Milwaukee Track Club. 

The Warhawks secured gold in two individual events and the distance medley relay Saturday. UWW was dominant in the fastest event of the day - the 60 meter dash. Angela Dale (Milwaukee, Wis./Nicolet) was the fastest woman at the meet, crossing the line in 7.87. Danielle Pouska (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) (7.99), Alyssa Stacy (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) (8.06) and Maddy Bratel (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) (8.13) claimed fourth through sixth respectively. Sophie Beightol (Belgium, Wis./Cedar Grove-Belgium) won the 400 with a time of 1:01.60. Kiersten Dellar (Waukesha, Wis./Watertown Lutheran Prep) added a fifth place finish in the event with a time of 1:02.02.

The UWW DMR combination of Katie Erb (Winnebago, Ill./Winnebago), Hannah Bilodeau, Madison Wnek (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) and Miranda McNally (Downers Grove, Ill./North) stopped the clock in 13:11.08 to win the event by more than ten seconds. 

In the throws, Jenna Wilkinson (Sun Prairie, WI/Sun Prairie) led UWW with a fourth-place toss of 11.91 meters in the shot put. Ryleigh Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) claimed sixth in both throws with a distance of 11.41 meters in the shot and 14.73 in the weight throw. Lou Matulenko (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) was seventh in the weight throw with a toss of 14.71 meters. 

The jumps saw UW-Whitewater dominate the high jump leaderboard. Abby Burr (Lancaster, Wis./Lancaster) led the way with a second place leap of 1.61 meters followed by Pouska's third place height of 1.56 meters. Brynn Fuerstenberg (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) and Zoe Roder (Waukesha, Wis./South) tied for fourth while Amanda Hillmann (Kettle Moraine, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) was seventh -- all with a height of 1.51 meters. Madi Brown (Brodhead, Wis./Brodhead-Juda) rounded out the top eight with a height of 1.46 meters. In the triple jump, Lexie Weier (Mineral Point, WI/Mineral Point) finished fourth with a leap of 10.43 meters while Emily Mohs (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) (10.30m) was seventh. Cherish Smith (Beloit, Wis./Turner) and Ava Falk (Kaneland, IL/Kaneland) finished in seventh and eighth in the long jump. The duo posted jumps of 4.63 meters and 4.61 meters respectively. 

A contingent of four Warhawks finished among the top eight in the 600 led by Emma Henningfeld's (East Troy, Wis./East Troy) second place clocking of 1:42.79. Addi Kowelewski (1:44.88) was fifth followed by Brinley Everson (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) (1:47.10) and Lily Watson (Kiel, Wis./Kiel) (1:49.22) in seventh and eighth respectively. 

In the 60 meter hurdles, Delaney Gale (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) and Gianna Cupertino (Racine, Wis./Case) finished back-to-back in fourth and fifth. Gale was clocked in 9.51 with Cupertino just six hundredths back. Bilodeau added a fourth place time in the 200, crossing the line in 27.46. 

UW-Whitewater will return to Kachel Fieldhouse next weekend for the annual Leonard "Squig" Converse Invite. The women's meet will be held Saturday with the exception of the pentathlon that will run Friday and Saturday.
