The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team hosted its annual Warhawk Fall Invite on the Warhawk Tennis Courts on Saturday, August 30th. The Warhawks finished with one first-place, two second-place, and two third-place finishes over the six total draws. 

Overall, the Warhawk team finished 3rd out of the 8 teams with a total of 35 points. WIAC-opponent UW-La Crosse was second, just one point ahead, with 36. Grinnell took first for the third consecutive year with a total of 40 points. 

Abigail Weaver (Wakarusa, Ind./Mishawaka Marian) finished the top of her draw, winning three straight matches at the second singles flight. Weaver opened the day strong with a 6-0, 6-1 victory in her first match. In the semifinal, the sophomore only dropped three games in another straight set victory. Weaver took the gold after a close championship match. She took the first set 7-5 before cruising to a 6-1 to stay undefeated on the day.

Kaitlyn Remke (Johnsburg, Ill./Marian Central) also had a strong showing, finishing third in the third draw. Remke won a close first-round match, taking the third set tiebreaker to advance to the semifinals. Remke was defeated in the semifinals by the eventual champion from Grinnell, but would bounce back in the third-place match for an 8-1 pro set win. 

Over in the doubles draws, Molly Asfeld (Waukesha, Wis./West) and Crystina Lee (Downers Grove, Ill./Timothy Christian) won both of their first two matches with 6-3. In the championship match, they fell to a conference opponent from UW-La Crosse in a close 4-6 match.

In the third doubles draw, Abigail McIsaac (Fairview Heights, Ill./Belleville East) & Julia Nill (Thiensville, Wis./Homestead) took third overall. The pair opened their first match with a 6-3 win, but fell in the semifinal. The third-place match went in favor of McIsaac/Nill due to a retire.
