The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's track team wrapped up the regular season slate of meets at home Thursday with the Drake Alternative Meet.
The Men's 4x100 team etched their name in the school record book, timing in at 40.50, topping the previous Warhawk record set in 2007. The time also ranks 3rd in NCAA DIII this year.
In the jumps events,
Spencer Steffen (Appleton, Wis./West) and
Carson Buser (Byron, Ill.) finished in the top 5 of the event. Steffen passed the 1.94m bar for third place, with Buser reaching fourth on a 1.89m jump.
For the horizontal jumps,
Lincoln Begin (Greenfield, Wis./) topped the long jump at 6.70m for second place overall.
Ethan Molzahn (Wauconda, IL/) joined him in the top 8, with a 6.15m leap. The Warhawks swept the four top spots in the triple jump as
Max Wallace (West Allis, Wis./Hale) leaped a 14.10m for first overall.
Connor Anderson (Waukesha, Wis./North),
Ben Bunton (Hartford, Wis./Hartford), and
Aiden Neduzak (Nekoosa, Wis./Nekoosa) followed up Wallace for the sweep.
Over to the throws,
Marlon Cystrunk (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) added his name to the record book with the second-best Javelin throw in school history. Cystrunk had a 57.42m throw on his last attempt of the day.
Sean Larsen (Waukesha, Wis./South) topped a different type of throwing event, finishing 3rd overall in the Hammer Throw. Larsen's 57.70m toss ranks 6th in the Warhawk record book and cracked the top 20 in NCAA DIII this year.
Larsen wasn't the only record mark in a throwing event, as
Tyler Jensen (Hilbert, Wis./Hilbert) finished 3rd overall in the discus. Jensen recorded a 49.78m, the 10th best toss in school history.
Back on the track, the Warhawk men dominated the 1500m race, with 6 runners in the top seven.
Dan Anderson (Eau Claire, Wis./McDonell) led the pack, finishing first overall with a 3:56.64.
Alex Metko (Brillion, Wis./) was right behind Anderson for third overall, at 3:59.27. Matt Andreano -4th,
Landen Bratt (Waukesha, Wis./West)-5th, Conner Murphy-6th, &
Brandon Massman (Belvidere, Ill./North)-7th were the other five that reached the top 8.Â
In the 110m Hurdles finals, Cystrunk claimed another gold, with a 14.73 finish in the finals.
Tristan Ropiak (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) also qualified for the finals, finishing 6th overall with a 15.99.
The Warhawks had two in the 100m Dash Finals as well.
Carsen Rindt (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) took 3rd overall, timing in at 10.97.
Ben Bojar (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) took 4th at 11.01 in the finals.Â
In the 800m,
Rhett Reuter (Darlington, Wis./Darlington) &
Josh Anhalt (West Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) finished in the top 8 runners. Reuter timed in at a 1:56.23 with Anhalt at 1:57.84 for 8th.Â
Wrapping up the sprints for the day, it was another Warhawk-filled podium in the 200m dash. Sam Vargas topped the race with a 21.27, followed by Andy Van Zile in second with a 21.62.
Carsen Rindt (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) - 4th,
Ben Bojar (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) - 5th, and
Caleb Beightol (Belgium, Wis./Cedar Grove-Belgium) - 6th rounded out the event for the Warhawk men.
In the Shot Put,
Logan Frey (Brookfield, Wis./East) claimed fourth with a mark of 15.10m in the final event of the last home meet of the season.
