Stevens Point, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's track & field team wrapped up the 2025 WIAC Indoor Track & Field Conference Championship. The Warhawks finished 3rd overall with 89 team points.
The first running event of the day saw a Warhawk on the podium as
Marlon Cystrunk (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) claimed gold in the 60m Hurdles. Cystrunk topped the final heat with a 8.10 second finish.
Andy VanZile (New Berlin, Wis./West) also competed in the finals, timing in at 6.94 for 7th place in the event.
Following up Cystrunk,
Caleb Beightol (Belgium, Wis./Cedar Grove-Belgium) had a strong showing in the 60m dash. Beightol timed in at 6.76, finishing third overall.
Chris Kalies (Grafton, Wis./Grafton) added another top-5 finish for the Warhawks in the 200m dash. Kalies timed in at 22.36 for a 4th place finish in the event.
Christian Patzka (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) wrote his name in the conference record book, setting a new WIAC record for the 3000m. Patzka crossed at 8:14.63, breaking his own record of 8:14.78 from the 2023 Conference Meet.
Dan Anderson (Eau Claire, Wis./McDonell) &
Tucker Johnson (Poynette, Wis./) both placed on the podium with Patzka in the 3000m. Anderson placed 4th with a 8:24.73 while Johnson placed 6th with a 8:33.21.
Wrapping up the final running event on the men's side of the WIAC Championship, Ben Heller, Collin Krause, Kalies, &
Kobe Chandler (Beloit, WI/Memorial) placed 4th in the 4x400 relay. The squad timed in at 3:24.49.
Kobe Chandler (Beloit, WI/Memorial) was also honored on the All-Sportsmanship Team during the awards ceremony on Saturday evening.
Max Wallace (West Allis, Wis./Hale) &
Connor Anderson (Waukesha, Wis./North) bolstered the field events, placing 6th & 7th, respectively, in the triple jump. Wallace set a personal best with a 14.05m (46-01.25) with Anderson following with his own personal best at 13.99 (45-10.75).
Sean Larsen (Waukesha, Wis./South) led the throwing events, placing 8th overall in the weight throw with a 17.12m (56-02.00) toss on his final attempt.
The Warhawks will compete in Last Chance Meets to get their qualifying times for the NCAA DIII Nationals held in Rochester, NY. National Championship qualifiers will be announced when available.

Stevens Point, Wis. -- The UW-Whitewater men's track and field program currently holds second in the team standings after the first day of competition in the WIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by UW-Stevens Point.
Christian Patzka (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) secured a gold in the mile to bolster the Warhawks Friday. He crossed the line in 4:12.49 while
Gunner Schlender (Brillion, Wis./Brillion) came in third with a clocking of 4:15.50.
Kobe Chandler (Beloit, WI/Memorial) broke the program record in the 400 - a mark that had stood for 11 years. His time of 48.91 set the record by 0.08 and was good for bronze at the championships.
Chris Kalies (Grafton, Wis./Grafton) posted a time of 49.60 to finish seventh in the event.
UW-Whitewater's distance medley relay combination of
Rhett Reuter (Darlington, Wis./Darlington),
Felipe Wickler (Batavia, Ill./),
Josh Anhalt (West Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) and Matt Andreano crossed the line in 10:27.10 to add sixth-place points to the team total.
Lincoln Begin (Greenfield, Wis./) bolstered the Warhawks in the field events with a runner-up finish in the long jump. Begin posted a career-best mark of 7.25 meters (23-9.50) - the eighth-best long jump in UWW history.
Day one of the championships also featured prelims of the fastest events on the track - the 60 and 60-meter hurdles.
Caleb Beightol (Belgium, Wis./Cedar Grove-Belgium) (6.81) won his heat to qualify for the finals.
Andy VanZile (New Berlin, Wis./West) registered a career-best time of 6.87 - the fifth-fastest in UWW history - to advance to the finals set for Saturday.
Marlon Cystrunk (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) won his heat of the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.21 to claim a spot in the finals.
With four events of the men's heptathlon in the books after day one, UWW's
Ben Bunton (Hartford, Wis./Hartford) is in tenth with a total of 2622.
The multi-events are set for a 10 AM start Saturday. Select field events will get underway at 11 AM with track events opening up at 1:40 with the finals of the 60 hurdles.
