The #22 UW-Whitewater women's basketball team fell to UW-Stout 87-60 in Menomonie Saturday afternoon.
The Blue Devils capitalized on home court advantage shooting nearly 65% (31-48) from the floor, 53% (10-19) from three-point range and 75% (15-20) from the charity stripe. The Warhawks shot 39% (23-59) from the field but struggled from long range hitting just 3 of 21. UWW was 11-15 from the free throw line in the game.
UW-Stout took an early lead and held it throughout the contest. An 11-point first quarter differential and a ten-point third quarter sway for the home squad was too much for UWW to come back from.
Kacie Carollo (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) led the Warhawks with 12 points and was a single rebound shy of her seventh consecutive double-double. She added four assists and two steals in the game.
Katie Hildebrandt (McFarland, Wis./McFarland) added ten points, four boards and a steal.
Maggie Trautsch (Sun Prairie, Wis./DeForest) was efficient from the floor hitting 4 of 5 for 9 points.
UW-Whitewater returns to Kachel Wednesday night against UW-La Crosse. The game is the team's annual Play4Kay Night sponsored by UW Credit Union.
With four games remaining in the WIAC slate, the Warhawks are tied for third in the league standings with a 5-5 record.
