The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater track and field program competed in the Big Dawg Invitational hosted by UW-Stevens Point Saturday. The Warhawk men finished third while the women stood atop the team standings at the meet.
The fastest event of the day also garnered the most team points for both the Warhawk men and women Saturday.
Nick McFadden (Waukesha, Wis./Pewaukee) won the men's race with a time of 6.99.
Ben Bojar (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) finished second (7.01) followed by
Marlon Cystrunk (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) and
Ayodele Bateye (Saint Charles, Ill./North) as UWW swept the top four spots.
Lincoln Begin (Greenfield, Wis./) added a sixth place finish and
Carsen Rindt (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) finished eighth.
Dakota Mitchell (Sun Prairie, Wis./West) led a five-Warhawk contingent to place in the women's race as UWW swept the top three. Mitchell crossed the line in 7.87 followed by
Kelly Huerta's (McHenry, Ill./) 7.92 and
Zari Dorris (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) was clocked in 8.03.
Danielle Pouska (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) and
Faith Gaston (Gurnee, Ill./Warren) added fifth and eighth-place points to the team total in the event.
A pair of Warhawks won the 200 with
Chris Kalies (Grafton, Wis./Grafton) claiming gold with a time of 22.46 for the men and
Hannah Bilodeau (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) registering a time of 26.15 for the women. Bojar,
Brad Heller (Brookfield, WI/East) and
Kobe Chandler (Beloit, WI/Memorial) finished fourth, fifth and sixth respectively in the men's race. On the women's side,
Eden Bowen (Lancaster, Wis./) (7th) joined Bilodeau with a top eight finish.
Katie Erb (Winnebago, Ill./) secured gold in the women's 800 with a time of 2:21.77.
Brinley Everson (Waunakee, Wis./Marquette) captured fifth while
Nicole Brown (Grayslake, Ill./) was seventh in the event.
Landen Bratt (Waukesha, Wis./West) was the top UWW finisher in the men's race. His 1:57.57 was good for fourth while Matt Andreano finished seventh.
Three UW-Whitewater men finished among the top eight in the mile led by Conner Murphy's 4:25.24 for fifth.
Colin Lewandowski (Elmhurst, Ill./York) and
Jonah Block (Whitefish Bay, Wis./) secured seventh and eighth respectively.
Ella Hansen (Pewaukee, Wis./UW-Parkside) and
Payton Scoggin (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trails) finished back-to-back in the women's race. Hansen posted a runner-up time of 5:26.42 followed by Scoggin less than a second behind.
Sam Burge (Mukwonago, Wis./) paced the Warhawk women in the 60 hurdles with a runner-up time of 9.50 - just a tenth out of the lead.
Lena Becker (Toulon, Ill./Stark County) added bronze with a clocking of 9.8 while
Morgan Amend (Markesan, Wis./Markesan) finished sixth.
Tristan Ropiak (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) led the UWW men with a fourth place time of 8.80 followed by
Kyle Popowski (Lake Mills, Wis./) in fifth.
In the final track event of the meet, the UW-Whitewater men claimed fifth in the 4x400. Andreano led off for
Josh Anhalt (West Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran),
Felipe Wickler (Batavia, Ill./) and Lewandowski who combined for a time of 3:35.71. The top women's squad featured Erb,
Carleen Snow (Rio, Wis./DeForest),
Emma Henningfeld (East Troy, Wis./East Troy) and Brown who finished fourth with a time of 4:27.45.
In the high jump,
Carson Buser (Bryon, Ill./) added fifth place points to the team total with a height of 1.91 meters (6-3.25). Four Warhawk women claimed top eight honors with three recording a height of 1.54 meters (5-0.5).
Zoe Roder (Waukesha, Wis./South) shared third on jumps while Amanda Hillman was fifth and
Abby Burr (Lancaster, Wis./) sixth.
Mia Monyelle (Kettle Moraine, Wis./) finished eighth.
UWW tallied four among the top eight in the women's pole vault led by
Gracie Holland's (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) top height of 3.68 meters (12-0.75).
Ella Maher (Rockford, Ill./Winnebago) was third with Snow and
Malerie Morey (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) finishing in sixth and seventh respectively.
Brady Schaller (Winnebago, Ill./Winnebago) posted a runner-up finish in the men's pole vault with a height of 4.29 meters (14-0.75).
Ava Falk (Kaneland, IL/) secured gold in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.01 meters (16-5.25). On the men's side,
Andy VanZile (New Berlin, Wis./West) was fourth with a jump of 6.40 meters (21-0).
Lexie Weier (Mineral Point, WI/) made it two-for-two for UWW in the horizontal jumps. She won the triple jump by just a quarter of an inch with a leap of 10.37 meters (34-0.25).
Kenni Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) led UW-Whitewater in the throws. Her heave of 12.78 meters (41-11.25) in the shot put was good for second Saturday, is a career best and is the ninth best toss in program history. She added a gold in the weight throw with a distance of 17.07 meters (56-0).
Ryleigh Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) added a seventh place finish in both events.
On the men's side,
Sean Larsen (Waukesha, Wis./South) was the runner-up in the weight throw with a distance of 17.16 meters (56-3.75).
Landon Martin (Kimberly, Wis./) finished eighth in the event.
