UW-Whitewater senior guard
Kacie Carollo (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) tied the program record for career rebounds in the Warhawks' 68-52 win at UW-Platteville Wednesday night.
Carollo bolstered the win 26 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals - all team highs. She hit 9-14 from the floor, 4-6 from three-point range and was a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line. With the seven boards tonight, Carollo has 824 career rebounds - tying the mark set by Wendy Beatty that has stood for more than 40 years.
Carollo took over early scoring the first ten points of the game for UWW and leading the Warhawks to a 16-15 lead after the first quarter. UW-Whitewater expanded the lead during the second quarter, outscoring the Pioneers 14-8. UWW capitalized on the turnover battle early after forcing 17 UWP turnovers in the first half.
The Warhawk lead hit double digits for the first time in the third quarter and only continued to grow through the fourth. For the game, UWW held a 27-16 sway in points off turnovers after capitalizing on the Pioneers 28 miscues.
Mallory Oloffson (Normal, Ill./Normal Community) and
Maggie Trautsch (Sun Prairie, Wis./DeForest) joined Carollo in double figures. Oloffson was efficient hitting 7-9 from the floor and 2-3 from deep for 16 points adding six boards on the evening. Trautsch's 13 points was boosted by a perfect 6-6 night at the free throw line.
UW-Whitewater will close out the regular season on their home court, hosting UW-Eau Claire this Saturday. The Warhawks will recognize the 2025 seniors at halftime. With just one game remaining, UWW is third in the WIAC standings.
