More Records Fall in Final Day of Midwest Elite

The UW-Whitewater men's and women's track and field teams each finished third in ten-team fields at the Midwest ELITE Invitational as more records were broken Saturday in Kachel Fieldhouse.

Caleb Beightol (Belgium, Wis./Cedar Grove-Belgium) was flying in the fastest event of the day. His clocking of 6.71 was tops at the meet, breaks the program record by .04, and is the fourth-fastest recorded in Division III this season. In the women's race, UWW had a pair of Warhawks finish among the top eight. Kelly Huerta (McHenry, Ill./) posted a time of 7.76 for fifth while Dakota Mitchell (Sun Prairie, Wis./West) was clocked in 7.81 for seventh. Both are top ten marks in the program record book

Marlon Cystrunk (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) captured the second program record on the day. He crossed the line in 7.98 to win the 60-meter hurdles - a mark that ranks sixth nationally this season. Sam Burge (Mukwonago, Wis./) and Lena Becker (Toulon, Ill./Stark County) added points to the women's total in the event. Burge was fourth with a time of 9.23 - marking the third-fastest time in program history - while Becker was seventh with a time of 9.58.

Huerta added a bronze finish in the 200 with a time of 25.53. That mark is seventh in the program record book. Mitchell added another top ten mark with a sixth-place time of 25.86 while Danielle Pouska (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) finished seventh.

Kobe Chandler (Beloit, WI/Memorial) paced a three-Warhawk contingent to finish among the top eight in the 400. Hannah Bilodeau (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) finished eighth in the women's race stopping the clock at exactly one minute.

Drew Davey (Elkhorn, WI/) was the runner-up in the 800-meters with a time of 1:56.77 - just three-tenths back from the lead. Colin Lewandowski (Elmhurst, Ill./York) added seventh-place points to the team total in the event. Meanwhile Katie Erb (Winnebago, Ill./) secured third in the women's mile with a time of 5:05.02 - the sixth-fastest time in UWW history. The men's 4x400 was an absolute thriller with the Warhawks taking silver by just 0.01. UWW's combination of Heller, Colton Krause (Jefferson, Wis./), Kalies and Chandler crossed the line in 3:21.66.

Brynn Fuerstenberg (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) and Amanda Hillman claimed third and fourth in the women's high jump. The duo both successfully cleared at 1.60 meters (5-3) - a career best and top ten mark for Hillman. Ben Bunton (Hartford, Wis./Hartford) was eighth in the men's event with a height of 1.86 meters (6-1.25).

The women's pole vault saw the top two heights in Division III this season recorded in Kachel Fieldhouse Saturday. Gracie Holland (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) finished second to her rival from WashU with a height of 4.05 meters (13-3.5).
