The UW-Whitewater women's gymnastics team topped UW-Oshkosh 192.975-190.275. The Warhawks used the fifth-best score in program history to top the defending national champions and improve to 5-0 on the season.
UWW opened the meet with a fantastic vault rotation. The Warhawks' total of 48.325 is tied for the seventh-best in program history.
Chloe Hammond (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny) led the way with a 9.725 - a mark that tied for the top score on the apparatus Saturday.
Ava Pesch (Waterford, Wis./Waterford Union) claimed fourth with a 9.675.
Brianna Balian (Peoria, Ariz./Sunrise Mountain) and
Elaine Copeland (Arlington, Texas/University Prep) each registered a 9.65 to share fifth while
Carleigh Moore (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) rounded out the scoring five with a 9.625.
UW-Whitewater kept it rolling on the uneven bars matching the team's vault total with a 48.325 - also tied for seventh in program history on the bars. Copeland paced the Warhawks with a 9.75 to secure a share of second.
Paige Magel (Cary, Ill./Prairie Ridge) was fourth with a 9.725 and Pesch shared fifth with a 9.675.
Gracie Talley (Collierville, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian) (9.65) and
Hayden Gough (Dallas, Texas/Dallas International School) (9.525) rounded out the scoring five for the Warhawks.
The teams tied on the beam - each scoring 47.675. For UWW, Magel,
Ashnaya Gupta (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) and
Kelsey Kollhoff (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg) all scored 9.675 to tie for fourth.
Tegan Haberstock (Alberta, Canada/National Sport School) added a 9.55 and Hammond scored a 9.1.
The Warhawks won the floor with a team total of 48.650 - the seventh-best team total in the event in history. Kollhoff claimed the floor title on the evening with a 9.8. Moore's 9.75 tied for third while
Ariana Goodwin (Elgin, Ill./The Einstein Academy) shared fifth with a 9.725.
Zoe Jenks-Recker (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) posted a 9.7 followed by a 9.675 from
Danielle Dudziak (Lorain, Ohio/Amherst Steele).
UWW will have a busy weekend next week. The Warhawks head to UW-La Crosse for a 6:30 meet against the Eagles Friday. On Sunday, UW-Whitewater will take on Western Michigan and NIU in Kalamazoo.
